(MENAFN) Viva Bahrain, the country’s No. 2 telecom operator by income, said that it expects that the launch of its next-generation mobile network, which allows web download speeds several times faster than its predecessor 3G , will help it reverse the decline in its revenues by attracting more customers with high data usage, Gulf Daily News reported.
The company expects that the data would provide 50 percent of the telecommunications company’s total revenue within two years, from 25 per cent now.
“Bahrain has a lot of demand for data, we’re moving fast towards that point. Revenues from data have grown significantly,” The Company’s CEO said.
Meanwhile, Viva said that its revenue reached USD319.89 million, up by 21 percent compared to the previous year, while the company’s January-June period revenue increased 15 percent compared to the same period in 2013.
